Alexandra Philips

Alexandra Philips, Associate Professor, ECUAD.

Phillips’ practice focuses on the merging of art and anthropology. Her research in anthropology examined the New Age appropriation of Native American spiritual practices, the role of comedy in social regeneration, and issues in representation. Her work has been exhibited across the US and Canada. Philips’ practice is informed by Land Art movement and makes use of site-specific approaches and natural and local materials. Her essay “A Curtain Closes on the Theatre of the World” in Fuse Magazine investigates ethics and artistic practice.
