Dr. Heesoon Bai, Associate Professor, Faculty of Education, SFU.
Bai’s current research interests cluster around examining and deconstructing ontological and epistemological assumptions behind our cultural practices consisting of unsustainable life habits and choices that are having an increasingly detrimental effect on the contemporary world. In her publications, the philosophical analysis of, and calls for, changes to the dominant worldviews, values, and discourses, are applied to various educational, leadership, and therapeutic contexts and fields. Corollaries to these research interests are her cross-cultural scholarship in the tradition of East-West Dialogue and my transcultural scholarship in contemplative inquiry and practice. In practical terms, she is engaged in epistemological research that aims at lessening human and planetary suffering and destruction.
